Job Description

Recognize and articulate end-user problems, pain points, challenges and opportunities within the materials science domain. Facilitate the creation of well thought through, low-fidelity diagrams that explore ideas and solutions across user flows and customer journeys. Develop concepts from wireframes through to mid-fidelity mockups as well as interactive prototypes and present solutions to the team while taking on feedback and iteration based on insights. Organize, plan, and conduct research activities. Create a culture of sharing findings within the project, programme, and design teams.

Skills

• You have an appropriate number of years of UX Design experience in a mid-level capacity with at least 1 year of experience working on a task heavy related application.
• You have a design portfolio (website or PDF) demonstrating critical thinking, analysis and sound decision-making as well as diverse UX methods and techniques.
• You enjoy getting involved with every stage of the UX lifecycle.
• You have experience working with stakeholders and non-designers and have an empathetic, articulate and open communication style.
• You like working in a collaborative (remote and in-person) team, where there is collective ownership of the product.
• You know your strengths and recognize opportunities to learn and improve.

Job Description

Develop a great understanding of our products - this includes terminology, content and visual language. Understand the value proposition to customers for each solution. Review our existing brand guidelines and develop a deep understanding of our branding. Apply it to new and exisiting products. and develop ideas how we might extend them. Understand our customer’s, their goals, problems and behaviour. Prioritise customers needs and behaviour, website performance and accessibility. Identify, coordinate shared design assets, such as ‘Sketch symbols’. Begin to audit interfaces and design languages. Understand the design solutions across products and where their commonalities and variations lie. You’ll hit the ground running! Collaborate with product managers, UXers, business analysts, developers, and data scitentists Pair with our front-end developers and UXers colleagues to propose design system infrastructure and governance. Evangelise the value of good design to stakeholders, and educate them in best practices Help move our organisation’s culture to focus on delivering outcomes rather than artefacts.

Skills

• Practical experience in implementing visual design systems across a range of platforms in a software development environment.
• Portfolio that showcases systems-level design thinking, problem-solving and visual design skills.
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with different stakeholders and evangelise user- centric methods of working.
• Experience in working autonomously desirable.
• Experience incorporating accessibility into the design process is desirable.
