Job Description

You will work with other designers and cross-functional team members and rely heavily on qualitative and quantitative data to make informed decisions. By partnering with cross-functional teams and customers, you will turn your insights into delightful products in a creative environment that requires proven leadership skills and the ability to execute a creative vision Set design requirements based on information from internal teams and user research. Identify new product improvement opportunities. Analyse how a new product satisfies market needs and consumer preferences. Stay up to date on current industry trends and market conditions. Coordinate with other design team members to ensure consistent and accurate communication. Modify and revise existing designs to meet changing customer preferences. Work closely with product engineers to suggest improvements for products and processes. Present product design ideas to cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

Skills

• Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, copywriting, wire framing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing
• An intuitive eye for customer needs beyond the obvious. Passion for design; not satisfied with the status quo and always thinking of ways to improve
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members. Collect and interpret both qualitative and quantitative feedback
• A well-rounded portfolio of client work, demonstrating a strong understanding of client objectives
• Creative problem-solving skills, attention to detail and effectively communicate and persuade around design concepts
• Dynamic, creative personality, effective at engaging and influencing a variety of audiences
• Assist product engineers when needed
• Stay updated on the latest trends and techniques to recommend cutting-edge tools and technologies, while also keeping informed about advancements in design trends and developments.
• The product designer is largely needed for furniture and cushions and made-up soft furnishings
• To study, research, and plan various styles of furniture design and find ways to improve furniture items already manufactured
• Select suitable materials, which might include wood, metal, plastic, and textiles
• Discuss designs with clients for custom ordering or with manufacturers
• Generate sample designs using computer-aided design (CAD), card models, sketches, or hard prototypes
• Use software packages such as AutoCAD, Woodwork for Inventor, SOLIDWORKS Photoshop, and various tools to complete projects from raw materials to finished furniture items
• Organize plans and schedules concerning the availability of resources
• Prepare detailed final designs
• Liaise with craftsmen or production department (such as production managers, marketing staff, and design engineers) about the process of construction or manufacture
• Evaluate issues such as pricing and fixing costs, fashion, purchasing, safety, materials, and manufacturing methods and techniques
• Attend workshops, seminars, and training on various manufacturing and furniture design types
