Job Description

PARTNER with Marketing to provide design input for all Monotype properties that exists within corporate branding guidelines and style-guides. PROVIDE hands-on expertise and leadership in the development of information architecture deliverables including site maps, user flows, UI sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and features and functions specifications EMPATHIZE with Monotype customers, have a natural calling to satisfy user needs and motivations. Advocate for the user on all projects. WORK with developers in an iterative way to get the technical business needs met while ensuring that the user experience is maintained as the top priority. PREPARE and CONDUCT usability testing sessions as well as in-context behavioral research; Analyze, synthesize and organize research data into meaningful themes, categories, and visually compelling user models and recommendations including personas, scenarios, and storyboards DESIGN for systems, including the holistic ecosystem beyond the screen, leading the resolution of problems at all levels of detail: from the big picture to the nuts and bolts LEAD a broad spectrum of user-centered design activities including, requirements gathering and analysis, user research and persona development, heuristic reviews and competitive audits, usability testing and use case development, functional modeling and task flow creation, information architecture, sitemap and wireframe development, taxonomies and metadata frameworks, multi-channel experience framework and strategy development.

Skills

• 2-5 years of experience with Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) in an interactive agency or internet consultancy as User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, Information Architect, or similar role
• A strong portfolio of live URLs demonstrating breadth of experience
• Executing interaction design and visual design as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks and associated design tools
• User experience design experience for software, Web applications which leverage emergent technologies, consumer electronics and/or mobile devices
• Experience designing with pattern libraries or style guides
• Strong practical knowledge of user centered design methodologies, usability principles and the ability to provide detailed specifications, mock-ups and prototypes
• Experience with user interface design patterns and UCD methodologies and conducting user research
• Experience with contemporary information architecture tools and techniques
• Strong conceptualization ability, strong visual communication ability
• Collaborating on agile sprint planning
• Excellent English communication, articulation skills.

Create effective, intuitive UX/UI and visual designs for web and mobile applications· Work collaboratively as part of a creative team that includes both clients and internal colleagues· Offer recommended solutions to clients’ design and usability problems· Facilitate brainstorming sessions with clients and internal project teams· Stay up-to-date on the current and best UI and visual design practices and trends

Skills

· 1-7 years work experience in graphic/digital media design including web (mobile UI design an asset)
· Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (esp. Photoshop and Illustrator)
· Excellent communication and presentation skills
· Drawing skills an asset
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Animation, or related field
