Work with quality engineering, development, and marketing teams to understand MathWorks product and branding directions and develop appropriate and consistent design solutions Work with project partners to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet user needs and project partner's vision. Produce design ideas and collaborate with teams to determine which ideas should move forward into detailed design and eventually production, based on usability testing, standard methodologies and technical input Research and showcase knowledge in industry trends and the latest technologies across mobile, desktop, and web. Help promote standard methodologies in design, usability, and accessibility within the design and engineering teams and across the company

Skills

• Experience crafting interactive prototypes
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with highly technical development teams, or work in a technical or scientific environment
• Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly and translate those to visual representations
• Experience communicating sophisticated interaction design ideas with clarity and persuasion
• Desktop and Web application design experience
• Portfolio available for viewing, highlighting multiple projects and your direct contributions linked in your resume is required to be considered for this opportunity

Due to our continued growth, we are actively seeking to bring high performing user experience professionals onto our team. Our user experience team members are embedded with their product teams and contribute throughout the product development life cycle. The UX team is regarded as a strategic business partner by product groups as they design and implement exciting new products and features. Responsibilities You will be responsible for leading user-centered design activities related to MathWorks products and/or Web applications, working with development teams to follow a user-centered design approach as you work collaboratively to brainstorm and design innovative solutions to complex problems. Make recommendations to team members about which usability methods to use to answer their questions about users and design directions based on projects' needs, goals and constraints.Work closely with team members to conduct user research, identify pain points, develop user profiles and create task lists.Contribute to requirements and design documents.Collaborate on paper and functional prototypes.Run usability tests, conduct interviews and site visits, organize surveys, and perform other usability assessments.Help the teams interpret and understand user feedback, and provide input for design decisions based on that feedback.

Skills

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 5 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree) is required.

Additional Qualifications

Academic focus in cognitive psychology, human factors, or related field
Prior experience as a usability engineer in a software environment
Direct experience with a variety of usability methods
Strong facilitation/leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to balance needs of a large number of concurrent projects and work effectively with cross-functional teams

Pluses:

Experience working in technical domains
Knowledge of MathWorks products
